A TEENAGE motorist defiantly rejected allegations she ran down a high school student who had been cyber-bullied because of a romantic dispute over a boy because she is a lesbian.
Jessica Elizabeth Webster, 18, was committed to stand trial on charges of stalking and running over and crushing a 15-year-old Calamvale Community College schoolgirl's leg at Algester, 20kms south of Brisbane, on February 11.
Webster's girlfriend, Amie Lee Beale, also 18, yesterday pleaded guilty to stalking the student, who has asked to be known only as Chantelle, and being a passenger in the car when the student was struck.
The court was told Chantelle was struck after a long-running dispute with another school student.
The year-long feud between the two school students, which included alleged threats of violence, cyber-bullying and stalking, was the result of a claimed dispute over the romantic affections of a boy.
Magistrate Phillip Austin committed Webster stand trial in the Brisbane District Court on charges of stalking and dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm on a date to be fixed.
Outside court, an emotional Webster said the long running court saga had "ruined" her life and caused a rift between her and her family.
She also denied the dispute was over a boy.
"Boy trouble?" an exasperated Webster said as she strolled from court.
"How is that possible? I am a lesbian."
Moments earlier, the couple shared a long, comforting embrace and exchanged kisses after Mr Austin fined Beale $750 for her role in stalking Chantelle.
Prosecutor David Pollock said Beale had been a passenger with Webster, who was driving a Toyota Camry sedan, another adult and two juveniles when they went in search of Chantelle on the day she was run over.
Constable Pollock said Chantelle had left school early and sought refuge at her boyfriend's when she learned the five had telephoned and threatened a female friend if she did not supply their target's home telephone number.
The court was told Beale and her friends waited at a park and that numerous calls and a text message were sent demanding Chantelle come and fight one of the female juveniles.
Constable Pollock said the five then drove around and spotted Chantelle as she was trying to walk home from her boyfriend's undetected.
He said Webster allegedly pulled up along side Chantelle and then drove off, crushing her leg.
The court was told Webster did not stop at the scene and that neither she or the other four notified police or emergency crews about the incident.
Chantelle was subsequently rushed to hospital and that her assailants, who had been watching from a nearby park, fled when the teenager's boyfriend confronted them and told them of the seriousness of her injuries.
Solicitor Clair Martin said Beale was "deeply remorseful" for her actions.
Mr Austin said Beale faced a maximum 18-month jail term for stalking the girl.
He said the only thing that stopped him from sending her to jail was the fact she played only a minor role.
A third adult arrested over the incident was last mont sentenced to two year's probation for involvement, the court was told.
